In an exclusive conversation, Rashmi Chopra, the visionary Founder of DigiCloset, shares her journey of building a tech-driven fashion platform, overcoming challenges as a woman entrepreneur in the male-dominated tech industry, and her insights on empowering women through digital transformation.
From leveraging AI and AR for personalized shopping experiences to fostering diversity in the workplace, she sheds light on the future of fashion-tech and the steps needed to encourage more women in technology.
1. As a woman entrepreneur in the tech space, what challenges did you face while building DigiCloset, and how did you overcome them?
Building DigiCloset as a woman in the tech space came with its set of challenges, from overcoming biases to assembling a strong tech-driven team. Initially, gaining credibility in a largely male-dominated sector required persistence, networking, and demonstrating expertise. I focused on leveraging my vision, ensuring the product spoke for itself, and surrounding myself with the right mentors and team members to push forward.
2. Women remain underrepresented in the tech industry. What steps do you think should be taken to encourage more women to pursue careers in technology?
Encouraging more women to enter tech starts with access—access to education, mentorship, and leadership opportunities. Companies and institutions must actively invest in STEM education for young girls, offer flexible work environments, and create strong mentorship programs. Representation matters, and when women see successful female leaders in tech, it fosters confidence and aspiration.
3. How do you see the role of digital transformation in empowering women entrepreneurs, especially in the fashion and e-commerce sectors?
Digital transformation has been a game-changer for women entrepreneurs, particularly in fashion and e-commerce. It lowers entry barriers, provides direct access to global markets, and enables innovative business models. Tools like AI, AR-powered virtual try-ons, and data-driven insights allow women-led brands to create unique customer experiences and scale efficiently without requiring traditional brick-and-mortar investments.
4. What advice would you give to young women looking to launch their own tech-driven startups?
Believe in your vision, embrace technology, and don’t be afraid to take risks. Surround yourself with mentors who can guide you and invest in continuous learning. Also, resilience is key—there will be hurdles, but with determination and adaptability, you can overcome them. Lastly, build a strong network; the right connections can open doors to funding, partnerships, and collaborations.
5. In your experience, how can mentorship and networking help women in technology and entrepreneurship advance their careers?
Mentorship provides invaluable guidance, helping women navigate challenges, avoid common pitfalls, and accelerate growth. Networking, on the other hand, opens doors to opportunities—whether it’s investors, potential partners, or customers. I’ve personally benefited from both, and I encourage aspiring women entrepreneurs to actively seek mentors and build their professional networks.
6. What inspired you to start DigiCloset, and how has your vision evolved over time?
DigiCloset was born out of a passion for fashion and a desire to integrate technology into the shopping experience. The idea stemmed from solving a common problem—helping consumers make confident fashion choices without stepping into a store. Over time, our vision has evolved to incorporate AI-driven personalization, sustainability in fashion, and a seamless omnichannel shopping experience.
7. How does DigiCloset leverage technology to enhance the customer experience and stay ahead in the competitive fashion-tech industry?
DigiCloset integrates AI, AR-powered virtual try-ons, and data analytics to personalize customer experiences. Our recommendation engine helps users discover fashion that suits their preferences, reducing returns and enhancing shopping convenience. Staying ahead in fashion-tech requires constant innovation, and we are committed to pushing the boundaries of digital retail.
8. What are some of the key innovations and future plans for DigiCloset to scale and grow further?
We are continuously exploring AI advancements to enhance personalization and virtual fashion experiences. Expanding our omnichannel presence, integrating blockchain for transparency in fashion, and strengthening our sustainable fashion initiatives are also key focus areas. Additionally, partnerships with designers and brands to offer an exclusive digital shopping experience are in the pipeline.
9. As a leader, how do you foster a diverse and inclusive workplace culture at DigiCloset?
Diversity and inclusion are at the core of DigiCloset’s culture. We actively hire and promote talent from diverse backgrounds, ensuring equal opportunities for growth. Creating a supportive work environment, encouraging flexible work arrangements, and fostering a culture of innovation where every voice is heard are some of the ways we build inclusivity.
10. What message would you like to share with aspiring women entrepreneurs who wish to break barriers and make an impact in the digital and fashion industry?
