Breaking the Silence: Sneha Karwat’s Mission for Mental Health in India’s Business Capital

Mumbai, (Maharashtra), [India], November 05, 2024: Mumbai, the financial capital of India, beats with equally exhilarating and exhausting energy. The city’s never-ending, busy streets represent its corporate drive. However, beneath this facade of progress lies a growing concern: the toll of this high-pressure environment on the well-being of its workforce.

In the labyrinth of Mumbai’s corporate jungle, professionals navigate a daily gauntlet of gruelling commutes, long work hours, and intense competition. This relentless pursuit of success often comes at a steep price – the deterioration of mental and physical health.

Against this backdrop of bustling ambition and mounting health concerns, our story begins – a story of one woman who dared to challenge the status quo and champion the cause of mental well-being in the corporate world.

Meet Sneha Karwat, a woman whose journey from corporate success to mental health advocacy is as inspiring as it is timely.

Her story began in the high-pressure world of corporate India. She climbed the ladder of success with stints at prestigious organisations like Times Internet Ltd, Taboola, UTV Media, and Sizmek by Amazon. However, as she ascended, she became increasingly aware of a critical gap in the corporate ecosystem – the lack of emphasis on mental health and leadership development.

“In the corporate world, we often wear our stress like a badge of honour,” Sneha reflects. “But beneath the surface, I saw a crisis unfolding – colleagues developing anxiety, facing burnout, even getting heart attacks at their desks. Something had to change.”

The signs were everywhere. During the pandemic, she watched as colleagues struggled with unprecedented pressure. Young professionals, barely in their thirties, were being diagnosed with high blood pressure. Teams were crumbling under toxic leadership. The corporate world’s promise of success had become a pressure cooker of stress and uncertainty.

A tragic event solidified Sneha’s resolve to change course. The suicide of a young boy in her close circle, seemingly triggered by a trivial disagreement over a new phone, shook her to the core. This incident, coupled with the alarming rise in stress-related health issues among her colleagues, compelled Sneha to take action.

While pursuing her NLP practitioner certification, Sneha experienced what she calls her “moment of clarity.” “I discovered something revolutionary in its simplicity – the sheer power of our mindset to transform our reality,” she says, her eyes lighting up with the memory. “It was like finding a key to a door I didn’t even know existed.”

This revelation further emboldened her to take the next step. In June 2023, she established Growth Minds Academy, a platform that leverages neuroscience and NLP-based coaching to offer customised leadership programs. Her approach focuses on clarity as the key to success and mind management for productivity. “A small change in mindset can change life drastically,” she explains, her voice resonating with conviction.

The impact of her work is already evident. Leaders who once struggled with imposter syndrome now lead with confidence. Teams suffocating under toxic culture are learning to breathe again. Young professionals are discovering tools to navigate their careers without sacrificing mental health.

But for Sneha, this is just the beginning. She envisions a future where mindset education is as important as mathematics in schools. “Imagine,” she says, her voice filled with passion, “a generation of leaders who understand not just profit margins, but the power of their minds. Who leads not from fear, but from clarity.”

Her vision extends beyond individual coaching. She advocates for mindset education to become part of the standard curriculum, starting from early schooling. Her live sessions across social platforms, Linkedin, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook, featuring individuals with inspirational journeys, are a testament to her commitment to spreading awareness.

As mental health issues continue to make headlines globally, Sneha Karwat stands as a symbol of hope and change. Through Growth Minds Academy, she is not just building a brand, but a movement – one that recognises and addresses the critical importance of mental well-being in personal and professional success.
